Apartments & Condos

Here's some basic information for residents living in apartments and condominiums.

  • Waste 'diversion' is the separation of materials like Blue Bin recyclables, Green Bin organics, household hazardous waste, electronic waste and yard waste from the garbage.
  • The less material that goes into the garbage (landfill), the higher the diversion rate, the better!
  • There is unlimited collection of Blue Bin recyclables and Green Bin organic material for City-serviced buildings.
  • Waste Management fees are charged based on the volume of garbage generated at the building.
  • If you effectively reduce and separate waste. your building couldsave money on Waste Management fees.

Here's some of the easiest ways to reduce your waste.

Buy refillable or reusable containers

Avoid containers that can only be thrown away

Your trash is someone else's treasure!

Fabric scraps, books, sporting goods, toys and clothing are always needed by non-profit groups

Bring your own bags

Use reusable bags when you shop and try to buy in bulk as often as possible

Recycle when you can't reduce or reuse
