#Star City Serviced Apartments (Chennai (Madras), India) - Hotel Reviews

This was our first work and pleasure trip to Chennai. The hotel is located in T Nagar which as per our experience is quite a convenient place to live in. it is approximately 30 - 40 minutes from the airport but well connected by public transport. It is on the road but the noise does not filter into the room.

The hotel is on the Bazullah Road which is a one way road so one might have to take some longer turns if one is going by car but if you decide to walk most of the places are nearby. There are quite a few restaurants within walking distance from the hotel.

The hotel provides accommodation but there was no in-house restaurant or tea and coffee service. As per their website they do have rooms with a small kitchenette but our room was not one of them.

The staff is polite and prompt and they even went to the extent of bringing tea/coffee from the nearby restaurants but this is something which is not available all night. So make sure you send the person with a thermos (available at the hotel) for tea/coffee.

The room was very average and slightly damp but that could be because of the Chennai weather as well. The room was very spacious. The one funny thing was that there was a pillar in the room and around the pillar was a tiny boundary about 12 inches in height. We were unable to guess what it was meant for but now I am guessing is that they were planning to build a small kitchen area that they decided against.

The bed was big and won't call it very cosy but was comfortable. It was the mosquito season so we could not open the window at night but the room had air-conditioning so the sleeping was comfortable.

Our window opened into the adjacent house but because the house was not very huge the view was clean and they have a lot of green and empty space. Not sure if the hotel has rooms facing the road.

Personally on my next trip to Chennai I will look for other places. I am not sure how much the client paid for our stay but as per the costs mentioned on their website I would not be willing to pay the mentioned amount for this experience. If this had been a budget hotel with around Rs,1000/- a night I would still have been fine.

They do not have an in-house restaurant but there is a Mainland China in the building but this is not open for breakfast. For breakfast there are many options, roadside sellers as well as Murugan Idli which is walking distance.

All in all it was not a bad experience but not the greatest. I would not mind recommending it to people.
