Culver City is a fully incorporated municipality that borders and is quite large compared to the many and varied neighborhoods and districts around. Culver City has long been known as an entertainment industry nexus, and that understanding is still valid; Sony Pictures, the NFL Network, and Makers Studios all call Culver home, as do countless post production houses.

Its downtown area is a notably vibrant spot for food and drink. Many a lunch meeting among entertainment industry professionals occurs on the patios of Culver City's restaurants, many of which are highly rated, highly trafficked, and highly priced. At night, a considerable bar culture persists. The area is easily accessible via the LA Metro and is populated with young residents. Outside of Culver City's commercial sections, somewhat densely populated neighborhoods of single family homes are the norm. Rentals of such houses are common.

For those who seek to live in an area that permits predominant use of public transportation, Culver City is a strong option; not only does the Expo line grant easy access to Downtown LA. but Los Angeles has already broken ground on a westward extension with stops in Palms and West LA.
