Meet your Residence Directors

Arctic, Baffin, Caspian, Hudson, Timber and Mackenzie halls

Higher Education Administration

Hometown: Fremont (Bay Area), Calif.

Hobbies/interests: My hobbies include shopping, reading and journaling/writing. My family, friends and faith are also important to me. I have several interest areas in higher education that range from student leadership development, the experiences of under-represented populations ( across race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ability, size, etc.), mentoring experiences of women of color, diversity competency (comparatively between majority and non-majority groups), international higher education models and program/institutional effectiveness.

What makes your residents the best? I have observed Wolf Village to be a vibrant community of diverse residents that respect and value each other. Walking around the community our residents are always polite, cordial and amicable. The CA and RA staff members are capable and friendly individuals who make living in the Wolf Village community a positive experience. I look forward to getting to know more residents as the year goes on.

What is your favorite part of being an RD?

My favorite part of being a RD is knowing that the interaction I have with students on a day to day basis can help serve as a catalyst for their growth and development. While other areas of the college campus may only interact with students minimally, in my role as an RD I get to engage students beyond their classroom experience in a way that will still be beneficial to their overall learning and growth as a college student. My role engages with students concerning various life topics relevant to life during and after college through programming, opportunities to develop leadership skills through Village Council and CA/RA positions, learning the importance of shared responsibility and positive social interaction in community living, and more. Knowing that my role can help make a resident’s experience at NC State that much more meaningful is a huge part of my personal sense of fulfillment in this role and I am honored to serve.

Gray and Red halls

Hometown:   Durham, N.C.

Hobbies/interests:   Traveling, listening to music, watching and playing sports, reading, watching movies, eating, exploring new cultures and ideas, spending time with family and friends.

What makes your residents the best? I have the privilege of being the RD for the S.T.A.T.E. Village, which is housed in Gray Hall and home to a select group of sophomore and transfer students. They're amazing because they've maintained much of their fresh perspectives and passion for the university. What makes them unique is that they are in a community that gives them the independence and platform to grow and mature in their autonomy, their academic competence and in their ability to create meaningful relationships within their hall and in the greater community. It's the best of both worlds!

What is your favorite part of being an RD? My favorite part about being an RD is engaging and connecting with an ambitious staff of RAs and a diverse and inspiring group of residents on a daily basis. No two days are the same, and I'm motivated by the challenge University Housing presents.
