The capital of Massachusetts and unofficial “Capital of New England,” Boston is the largest city in the state as well as one of oldest cities in the country. Home to 7.6 million people among its 21 official neighborhoods and the “Greater metro” region, the city is rich in both culture and history.

Boston is known for its eclectic blend of old and new architecture, with buildings ranging from 18th century brick-front churches to soaring high-rises that have only been assembled in the past 10 years.

There is a grand range of housing options as well, from small apartment complexes to multi-million dollar condominiums, antique brownstones and luxury apartments; there is something for everybody.

The city is known for its tourist attractions such as the JFK Library, The Boston Museum of Science, the New England Aquarium, and the Boston Common, the oldest park in America. In addition to these attractions, there are tons of great shopping plazas and districts, three major convention centers, a theater district that hosts live concerts and traveling Broadway productions, and lots of fabulous dining options ranging from inexpensive street fare to chic, upscale eateries. There is a tremendous sports culture to follow, with the Major League Baseball Champion Boston Red Sox, 17-time champion National Basketball Association Boston Celtics, and the National Hockey League Boston Bruins. Fenway Park, which is home to the famous Red Sox, is the oldest still-active sports stadium in the United States!

Boston has a substantial student population due to its numerous colleges and universities, which lends to the wide array of apartment options available. Students, professionals, and family residents alike enjoy the Emerald Necklace, an area of public parklands that encircles the city with green open spaces.

Boston is accessible by highway via I-90 going east and west, Route 128 (which leads to I-95) circling around the metro area, and I-93 going north and south. The most popular mode of transportation of getting around Boston is the underground rapid transit system, known as the “T”, provided by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA). The “T” reaches as far as Malden to the north, as Braintree to the South, and Newton to the west with four different lines: red, orange, blue and green. In conjunction with the “T”, Boston has a well organized bus system and commuter rail.

Boston has so much to offer in terms of homes, work, entertainment, and play! If this grand city sounds like the place to find your next apartment, please contact Metro Realty Group to schedule a viewing and begin your search.
