No. There is no way to find a one bedroom apartment in San Francisco that cheap.

I used to live in a hostel at the edge of Chinatown in downtown SF that charges $340 every 2 weeks. It s a small prison cell room with a bed, a chest of drawers, a night stand, and a sink. And you have to walk sideways from door to the window. And I was lucky to get a room with a window. I later bought a small TV table so I don t need to eat food on my bed. But in order for move from door to window/sink, I have to move the TV table around.

Here s the door, bed, cabinets, TV. and yes, the black thingy next to the TV is a xbox 360 and controller.

I can t turn around in this room without hitting something.

You share bathroom and shower with entire floor of people. And your neighbors are either crazy or drug users or both, and police often came visit in the middle of night and handcuff people away.

But I did stay in this place for over a year. I had a lot of fond memory of it. I draw, go online, watch TV, play games in this tiny room. I go to buy grocery in Chinatown market and cook for myself using microwave. I spend about 40 bucks every week on grocery and bring lunch box to work. I walk to and from work (which is in Financial district some 15 minutes walking distance away). I walk to fisherman s Wharf on weekends and enjoy the view. And I was so lucky that throughout my stay there, I never get any harassment from my neighbors or homeless people around that area. My co-worker also lived in the same building with me. We shared some really weird experiences together, include a midnight flood at 3 am with water running down from third floor all the way to the street (both of us live in second floor).

So forget about one bedroom apartment with your own bathroom and shit. This is what you get for roughly 700 a month in Downtown San Francisco. That s about 3 years ago, I m sure the price has gone up.

If you re living on a budget, this is not a bad choice.
