Provide Housing

The Housing Services Department expands access to safe, sanitary and affordable permanent housing while promoting housing stability though tenant education and advocacy, referrals to housing resources and management of SHELTER, Inc.’s portfolio of owned housing throughout Contra Costa County. The Housing Services Department also partners with other service agencies throughout the county as a lead housing provider for various supportive housing programs. Below are a list of affordable housing properties owned and managed by SHELTER, Inc. SHORT-TERM HOUSING

SHELTER, Inc. operates Mountain View Emergency Family Shelter for homeless families with children in need of immediate emergency housing. To request a room call (925) 957-7568.

This facility can accommodate 7 to 10 families (up to 30 people). Residents meet

regularly with a case manager who assists with locating a placement in long term housing. If you are receiving services from a county or nonprofit agency, please contact your worker for an expedited referral. If you don’t have a worker, please call (925) 338-1038.

TRANSITIONAL HOUSING

SHELTER, Inc. operates temporary housing for homeless families in two apartment complexes in East Contra Costa County. Additional temporary housing is offered to homeless families and individuals in apartment units scattered throughout Contra Costa County.

Residents pay rent equal to 30% of their adjusted monthly income. Clients meet regularly with a case manager to locate and secure permanent housing. Employment services, tutoring and nutrition education are offered on site. If you are receiving services from a county or nonprofit agency, please contact your worker for an expedited referral. PERMANENT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING

SHELTER, Inc. offers rent subsidies and case management services for homeless Contra Costa residents who:

• Have a dual diagnosis of mental health and chronic substance abuse

• Have chronic substance abuse problems
