-Watersports. The spectacular glacial Finger Lakes in the west of the state, the Erie Canal and the sprawling Adirondacks region to the north are home to numerous beautiful lakes, ideal in the summer months for activities like canoeing, kayaking, boating and especially fishing. There’s an abundance of bass in these waters, as well as salmon and varieties of trout.

-Visitor attractions. New York is a state unique for its high number of Halls of Fame – in Cooperstown there’s the Baseball Hall of Fame, considered essential for any fan of the sport. New York is a state with a humid continental climate, which on the whole makes for warm summers and cold winters. In northern, central and western parts of the state temperatures fall to as low as -15 in winter, and the cold weather lasts from November through to mid-March. Spring conditions are mild and occasionally warm, with highs in the upper-teens, while summer conditions are consistently warm in all areas apart from the highest ground – July sees daily temperatures reaching the upper-20s in places like New York City and Albany.

New York City has a vast public transport system of buses, the subway and commuter trains that accounts for a higher proportion of commuter traffic than any other city in the country. In Buffalo there’s the Metro Rail – the second largest light railway in the state. Amtrak meanwhile provides an intercity service throughout the state, with the Empire Service connecting New York City with Niagara Falls. By road there are three interstates running from north to south, and five from east to west. Major airports for New York holiday apartments include JFK, LaGuardia (LGA), Buffalo (BUF), Albany (ALB) and Rochester (ROC).
