Privilege Insurance was established in 1994 and is part of the Direct Line Group who are owned by Royal Bank of Scotland PLC.

Privilege Insurance is underwritten by UK Insurance Ltd.

Their slogan is “You don’t have to be posh to be Privileged” and their advertising campaigns have included such well-known people as Joanna Lumley, Nigel Havers and Ian Wright.

Privilege made a decision in 2004 to concentrate on arranging car insurance for those drivers with at least four years no claims discount and who are careful drivers but they will still consider applications from customers who do not fall into those categories.

As well as providing car insurance they also provide home insurance .

Their car insurance can either be purchased online directly through the company’s website, over the telephone or via well-known price comparison websites.

They provide a choice of third party, third party fire and theft or fully comprehensive car insurance.

Benefits of their car insurance include such things as up to 65% no claims discount, a saving of up to 10% on your car insurance premium if a further car(s) was also to be insured and named drivers are able to build up their own Named Driver No Claims Discount that can be used should they take out their own car insurance policy with Privilege Insurance.

Other benefits include repairs carried out to the car at an approved repairer following an accident are guaranteed for up to five years and should you be hit by an uninsured driver and have fully comprehensive car insurance your excess will be covered by Privilege Insurance and your no claims discount will not be affected.

Optional extras include Motor Legal Protection, Guaranteed Hire Car, Guaranteed Hire Car Plus, Breakdown cover and Protected No Claims Discount.
