Prices, general conditions, useful links and a tip to avoid scams.

Due to high accommodation prices, sharing a  flat, house or  a room is  very common in London.

Shared rooms (in a shared house) goes for around ?50 ?75/ week. Single rooms are usually  ?90 ?120/week. Double rooms are around ? 110 ?170/week.

All Bills, Council Tax and wireless internet (where available) are usually included in the rent. The rent payment is usually due monthly, but there are places where weekly/ fortnightly  payments are also accepted.

Deposit of 1week 1 month worth of rent is asked for, that should be paid back to you in full at the end of the tenancy if the property has incurred no damage from the tenants. Notice period can be 1 week 1 month. Minimum contract commitments vary generally 3-6 months.

Most of the agencies charge for registration fees around ?70 per person, also some of them has key-deposit of ?15 or so.

Tip

Do not transfer any money. not even to yourself via Western Union or any other fast transfer money services. There has been a scam going around for years now, asking potential renters to prove their available funds by transferring money to even their own name.
