When thinking about renting a house, it’s hard to know where to start.

If you would like to apply for social housing, including a Housing New Zealand home, your first step is talk to the Ministry of Social Development about your housing needs.  They’ll discuss your situation with you, and look at the best way to help.

Then, if you are eligible for social housing, they’ll arrange an assessment interview for you.
