Rather than rent an entire house, many of these people rent a room in a house share as a cheaper alternative. Not only is renting a room cheaper it's also a great way to make some new friends in a new city.

Still Living with the Parents: As house prices are falling, many people who used to live in the family home are opting to rent and buy their apartment or house in a couple of years. A room for rent in a house share can be a great way to get out of the parents house and relatively inexpensive compared to the interest payments on a mortgage.
