Located just 6 miles from the center of Washington, DC. Alexandria is an independent city in the state of Virginia with a population of 128,283 as of the 2000 Census.

Just inside the Capitol Beltway (I-495), Alexandria is easily accessible to Washington D.C. by car. By Metro, there are 4 stops including either or both of the Blue or Yellow lines into Washington D.C. The City of Alexandria provides the DASH bus system to move in the city in addition to the Metrobus buses that travel in and out of Washington D.C.

The historic district of Alexandria, known as Old Town, is famous for its shopping and waterfront restaurants. Many of the restaurants are famous for their fresh seafood, especially closer to the water. Many important historical landmarks are located in Alexandria including Mt. Vernon, George Washington's plantation and historic home, the Torpedo Factory Art Center and the George Washington Masonic Temple.
