East Village Living

The East Village is a diverse neighborhood with a vibrant nightlife which lies north of the Lower East Side and south of Stuyvesant Town. At one point, the East Village was considered to be a part of the Lower East Side, but then started to break away as its own unique neighborhood during the 1960’s. The area has forever attracted individuals like artists, musicians and students who have revolutionized this part of lower Manhattan.

Lifestyle, Food, and Entertainment in the East Village

The East Village brings together an eclectic mix of restaurants, bars, cafes, vintage clothing shops, street art, and antique shops and of course a Starbucks right on 1st Avenue and 17th Street. For entertainment, there are a handful of movie theaters in the neighborhood such as Regal Cinemas 14 and Lowes Village VII.

Education wise, the East Village is home to many schools including the Cooper Union which is know for its academic excellence.

There are lots of things to do with kids in the East Village, like visiting the Toyota Children’s learning Garden, Tompkins Square Park, New York Public Library (Tompkins Square branch), and the Fales Library of New York University.
