Apartaments in Milan

Milan, Italy’s second largest and most cosmopolitan city is a fascinating mix of architecture, art and fashion. A city where creativity has reigned throughout the centuries and still does today, and the reason why it is the financial heart of Italy. Whether you visit for business or pleasure, at Friendly Rentals we have the perfect accommodation in Milan.

All of our centrally located apartments in Milan are close to all of the major tourist sights and come fully equipped with everything you need to make you feel at home, WiFi, television, microwave, washing machine etc. Our range of apartments is extensive, from welcoming studio apartments which are perfect for a romantic weekend or the solo business traveller to large three or four bedroom apartments perfectly suited for groups or families.

What to Eat in Milan

Eating out in Milan is definitely a rewarding experience. The majority of the dishes are rich and hearty helping to keep you warm during the long cold winter months. Must try foods in Milan are the famous “Risotto alla Milanese”, a mouth watering combination of rice and saffron which is usually served as an accompaniment to “ossobucco”, veal shanks braised with vegetables and gremolota. Another popular dish in Milan is polenta smothered in a delightfully chunky tomato sauce and served with sausages or ribs. The favourite Christmas treat Panettone is originally from Milan and is now eaten all over the world and not just at Christmas. Of course, Milan being in Italy there is also the option of pizza or pasta in one of the many trattorias.

What to see in Milan

The sights in Milan will leave you breathless. Marvel at Milan’s most emblematic building, il Duomo, an impressive Gothic cathedral built of white marble. If you visit make sure to go up to the panoramic terrace for spectacular views of Milan and the chance to see the gargoyles up close. Wander through the Sempione Gardens and the 16th century Sforza Castle, which houses a number of museums. Admire Da Vinci’s “Last Supper” in the Santa Marie delle Grazie convent. If visiting the sights leaves you exhausted just sit back and watch the beautiful people of Milan wander by.

Where to go shopping in Milan

There is really only one place to go shopping in Milan, the “Quadrilatero d’Oro”. This is Milan’s fashion district and is filled with chic boutiques, jewellers, fashin outlets and the flagship stores of designers Armani and Vesace among others. The Golden Quadrilateral can be found just to the north of the Duomo. If the prices are a little out of your range, head to Papiniano Market where you can pick up designer seconds. Other markets in Milan worth a visit are Naviglio Grande selling antique furniture and the Viale Fauche selling discounted clothes and shoes from prestigious designers.

Activities for Children in Milan

Whilst at first glance it may appear that there aren’t too many kid friendly activities in Milan these is in fact quite a lot. Top of the list for any parent should be the Milan Children’s Museum. Children between the ages of 2-11 years old can create and experiment with the vast array of materials on offer; activities also take place throughout the year. Wandering through the Sempione gardens you will come across the entrance to the Acquario, as the name suggests it is an aquarium dedicated to river species and best of all it is free. If the weather is against you and the children are restless a visit to Play Planet is required, pools filled with balls, slides and lots of other fun things will keep them amused for hours. And if all else fails to keep the children amused in Milan, take them to the nearest gelateria and let them fill up on gelato.

Nightlife in Milan

The first and best place to start off any night in Milan is at Italy’s foremost opera house the Teatro alla Scala, just make sure you book ahead. If you’re looking for something a little livelier you won’t be disappointed, the nightlife in Milan is as cosmopolitan as the city itself, Corso Cosmo is where the beautiful people come to play; Navigli is the destination if you want a quiet canal side drink to start off the night. Indie music lovers can head to the Brera neighbourhood for an exciting night out. We won’t mention all the places to go out in Milan here because often the best plan is just to go and see where the night takes you.
