New York City Apartments

It's fair to say that New York City apartments come in all shapes and sizes. Although any city center location means that, generally speaking, higher costs can be expected, the advantages of living close to the center of things can be immense. Living in the suburbs of New York and the wider state means that commuting to the city is going to be a part of life. For those who want to access the city for its entertainment, restaurants, or sheer excitement, traveling to and fro can become a bore. Commuting for work is even more tiresome. The brilliant thing about New York City apartments is that there are only ever a couple subway stops to pass through to be in the heart of the metropolis.

Apartment life in New York City’s most central neighborhood of Manhattan, for example, means that you can expect some top quality eating establishments right on your doorstep. In Lower Manhattan, to the south, expect some of the best restaurants in the entire country to be your neighbors, especially around Little Italy and Chinatown. You’ll also find some of the country’s most recognized stores, such as Macy’s. Anywhere around Fifth or Eight Avenue, which has proximity to Central Park, is especially sought after and the rental prices demanded reflect this. Manhattan is also the cultural hub of the city - expect everything, from music venues and art galleries to theaters, within walking distance.

To the south east of Manhattan is the larger neighborhood of Brooklyn. Offering access to the center of New York via its famous bridge, Brooklyn has some major attractions in its own right, such as a 52-acre botanical garden and the world-famous Coney Island. At the Brooklyn Museum, art lovers are well catered for, too, and members of the community here can enjoy its comprehensive permanent collection which features ancient Egyptian masterpieces, European painting and African sculpture.

In downtown Jersey City, just to the west of Manhattan, there is no less of an accent on sophisticated urban living to suit all. With some excellent transportation links by air, rail, road and increasingly by bicycle, Jersey City’s community is thriving. For some of the best shopping in New York, for example, head to Newport Mall or Journal Square - both in the heart of Jersey City. However, whichever neighborhood you look at, the communities of New York City really do have it all.
