Harrington was renamed Washington Township in 1840 and Pleasantville's name was finally changed to Westwood in 1875. Westwood was officially incorporated as a borough in 1894 and remains today.

According to data collected by the U.S. Census Bureau, Westwood rentals have a vacancy rate of 4.4 percent, and median gross rent was valued at $1,382 as of 2010. More than half of all renters fall in the gross rent range of $1,000 to $1,499, with nearly 83 percent of renters paying between $1,000 to $1,500 or more. The data further indicated that roughly 37.7 percent of all renters reported spending 35 percent or more of their household income on gross rental costs.

City-Data information revealed that in March 2012, the cost of living in Westwood was24.9 percent higher than the national average.
