I live in the northern side of the coronado apartments and now feel its time to give this place a complete review.

Pros:

1) Cheap, affordable apartment (cheaper than anything I could find in Costa Mesa or Newport, relatively close to the 405 and 73 freeway).

2) Pet friendly.

3) Has two 24 hour gyms.

4) Plenty of parking. All gated. There is also designated motorcycle parking in front.

4) Laundry facilities at every building.

5) Close to beach, restaurants, etc.

6) Large community area near front office with bbq s, hot tubs, fire pits, the works. This place is like spring break every weekend.

Cons:

1) With cheap rent, you get many undesirable tenants. Police are on site often. One of my neighbors traditionally gets up around 2am and starts partying any given day of the week. I hear fights going on and smells cigarettes coming from the hallway. Although the trash chute is about 10 yards, they choose to leave their trash bags in the hallway (most tenants seem to leave their trash on the trash area floor, but will not go the extra step to put in IN the garbage bin).

2) Having pets means many hallways, walkways, and grass areas smell of urine and/or are littered with feces. Watch where you step! Be sure to scout out your apartment area first if you care about not smelling urine and poop.

3) Security is really parking enforcement. They won t tow your car the first couple times if you park in the wrong spot. If you need to contact security for any reason, they are not available and there is not a number listed anywhere so that you can contact them, but the police shouldn t be far away. again, they are there often.

4) They advertise a 24 hour gym, but 3 months ago they closed it for no apparent reason. I caught a security guard (he caught me) as I was walking near the pool area at 11pm, and he said they will have it open again in 2 months. This occurred on around June 15th, 2015. There is a second, 24 hour gym thats still open on the southern complex you can go to.

5) Staff always seems unhappy.  Maybe it s because we only come by when we have questions or complaints, instead of going to say hi and see how they re doing. They ask that you email them, but I don t get any responses from my emails, so it s probably better to go in and say hi.

6) BUGS. Tons of bugs. There are trash receptacles at every building and the bugs thrive. They carved a whole in the wall to place the air conditioning unit, so its easy access for bugs. I can almost stick my entire hand through the gap.

Conclusion:

I needed this place as a cheap stay where I could sleep, eat, shit, and study for school. It s not the best study environment, but it works. Hardly anyone bothers me and it s nice that I can bring my dog with me for company. The underground, gated parking lot where I can park my bike is great.
