Industry requirements

To become a Resident Letting Agent (RLA) in QLD, you must complete the relevant educational program and any other requirement as prescribed by QLD Office of Fair Trading .

Resident Letting Agents (RLA) are permitted to purchase permanent and holiday lettings. It should be noted that RLA s need body corporate approval to purchase management rights and must reside on the premises unless they have a full QLD Real Estate Agents licence. You should check the QLD Office of fair Trading website information for restrictions involved with this type of licence.

Kaplan Professional’s QLD Resident Letting Agent Program will give you the education required to obtain your Resident Letting Licence and commence a successful career.

Students who successfully complete the program will receive a Statement of Attainment for the following units of competency:

• BSBSMB406A Manage small business finance
• CPPDSM4006A Establish and manage agency trust accounts
• CPPDSM4007A Identify legal and ethical requirements of property management to complete agency work
• CPPDSM4010A Lease property
• CPPDSM4015B Minimise agency and consumer risk
• CPPDSM4016A Monitor and manage lease or tenancy agreement

Note: QLD Office of Fair Trading issue all Certificates of Registration and Licences. Application forms can be downloaded from their website. Whilst all participants are provided with equal opportunity to complete their studies, some participants may not be able to obtain their Certificate of Registration or Licence with QLD Office of Fair Trading.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course.

All participants are provided with equal opportunity to complete their studies with Kaplan, however some participants may not be eligible to obtain their Certificate of Registration or Licence with QLD Office of Fair Trading. Contact QLD Office of Fair Trading to ascertain eligibility requirements to obtain a real estate licence in QLD.

Mode of delivery

This program is delivered online through Kaplan’s eLearning Management System to provide a flexible online working space which enables you to complete your training anywhere, anytime and at a pace that suits your needs.

• Information sheets
• Industry forms
• Further reading
• Assessment

Enrolment

As this is an online program, you may enrol into this program at any time and begin studying immediately on enrolment.

Duration

Access to the course will be provided for 12 months from your enrolment date, however you may complete the course at any time prior to the expiry date.

Extensions are available at an additional cost .

Assessment

Assessment for this program may include, but is not limited to:

• Multiple-choice
• Short answer questions
• Case studies
• Project work
• Completion of forms
• Video submission

You are entitled to a total of two (2) attempts at your assessment. If you exhaust your assessment attempts you will need re-enrol into the program at an additional fee .

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

You may be entitled to receive Recognition of Prior Learning for existing knowledge and skills. RPL is a formal assessment process that recognises your current skill and knowledge. If you have the necessary experience and skill you may be competent in one or more of the units even though you have not completed recognised training.

RPL assessment will recognise what you know and apply it to the real estate program that you want to complete. This will reduce the time you need to spend studying and the number of units you need to complete.

The assessment process looks at your:

• real estate experience
• experiences gained throughout your working life
• any education or training you have completed and applies this to the units required to complete your chosen real estate program.

The education can be formal such as diplomas or degrees from recognised educational institutions or informal training such as Continuing Professional Development (CPD) attendance at conferences or seminars or franchise training in fact any learning whatsoever can be recognised.

The seven units of competency obtained upon successful completion of this program also form part of the QLD Real Estate Licence. Consider Kaplan’s QLD Real Estate Licensing Program. to receive Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for the units you have already completed, and obtain additional units towards your Certificate IV in Property Services (Real Estate).
