Self catering holidays in Watergate Bay

With its west facing, long sandy beach, sunsets at Watergate Bay really are spectacular. But even before that, the two miles of golden sand make it popular with families, couples, dog and of course surfers.

The stretch of cliff path here offers long rambles or short jaunts, where you can watch the waves roll in and out with the tide and find a new perspective to watch the sun go down. Whether your view is from the South West Coast Path on the cliffs above, or on the sand itself, it’s inspiring, relaxing and invigorating.

The beach is exposed to incoming swell from the Atlantic making it an excellent place for watersports. You nearly always find surfers, bodyboarders, stand-up paddle boarders and kite surfers at Watergate Bay, and if you fancy giving one of these sports a go you can, with lessons and equipment hire available from the Extreme Academy .

Watergate Bay also hosts a year-round events calendar, from music festivals and surf competitions to Thundercat racing and, of course, Polo on the Beach ; there is always something going on.

FOOD AND DRINK

Watergate Bay is home to some of Cornwall s best restaurants. Beachside you ll find The Beach Hut, a cool restaurant serving fresh seafood, steaks and their famous Extreme Hot Chocolate. You ll find the newest restaurant on the block at the hotel too Zacry s, offering big bold American-inspired flavours with a Cornish twist.

Watergate Bay loves dogs, and dogs love Watergate Bay; the beach is dog friendly all year round. With two miles of sandy beach to run on and sea caves to explore, we are certain your dog will have a great time here.

ACCESSIBILITY

The beach has level access via a slip lane onto the sand. There are two pay and display car parks nearby plus an overflow car park on the cliffs during the summer months. Toilets are located next to the car park. RNLI Lifeguards are on duty between 10am and 6pm throughout the summer months.

Newquay airport is close by, making Watergate Bay the perfect destination for a last-minute holiday.
