If you can t afford to rent a home privately or buy your own home you may be eligible for social housing and to live in one of our rented homes.

What is social housing?

Social housing is rented accommodation, allocated to people according to their housing need. The homes are let under secure or assured tenancies.

Who is eligible?

Your local council will tell you if you are eligible for social housing. They will prioritise you according to a set of rules called banding . Bands are based on housing needs, so you re likely to be offered housing first if you:

• are homeless
• live in cramped conditions
• have a medical condition made worse by your current home.

How do I apply?

Start by contacting your local council s housing department (you can find this information for your council on the gov.uk website )and register with them. They will check your housing need and will either find a house for you, put you on a waiting list or help you find out about other options. You may be housed with us, another housing association or with the council.
