The Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD), serving as the Housing Authority of the County of San Diego, operates a number of housing programs for low-income families.

The Section 8 Rental Assistance Programs are programs where qualified families have a portion of their rent paid to the landlord by the Housing Authority. To apply, please visit the Online Waiting List page.

The Public Housing program is similar to the Section 8 Rental Assistance programs, but the rental units are owned and managed by the Housing Authority and its representatives.

The Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) program provides rental assistance to qualified homeless Veterans. This program is in partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
