Often, owners of single family homes are more willing to allow you to personalize the home to fit your life style. While on the other hand apartment managers or duplex managers for the most part do not allow for much if any customization. This means that you may have the ability to paint the walls the color of your choice, plant flowers outdoors and other things that will help you feel more at home. Unfortunately, apartment managers and duplex managers aren t typically willing to allow tenants to do these things. This means that although you re paying to live in a particular space, you ll need to keep the walls the current color and won t have much personalization options like you would with a single-family house.

Overall, living in a single-family house is more private. There are more options as far as personalization, and living in a single-family house often allows you to have more space than an apartment or duplex. The one thing you will need to look at is the overall price. Typically you are going to pay a little more for a home but are going to get some much needed benefits at the same time.
