Situated near Newquay and Padstow, Watergate Bay is a fantastic place for a holiday. The beautiful sandy beach is surrounded by high cliffs and is popular with families as well as surfers. In fact, several years ago the two mile long beach hosted the English Nationals Surfing Championships. For the last five years ‘Polo on the Beach’ has been held in Watergate Bay – over 2500 spectators gathered on the beach last year despite the inclement weather. INVINCIBLE COURT is a vintage apartment building of 1920's Harlem, a brick dowager with a dainty sitting area in the lobby and 53 brass mail boxes that still close and lock.

A one-bedroom apartment on the third floor recently was vacant and available for rent. The parquet floors had long since gone gray and all the wood moldings were muffled with paint. A piece of the kitchen ceiling had fallen and needed to be repaired. The living-room windows opened onto a broom-clean concrete courtyard.

The asking rent was $243.51 a month, heat included, but what makes that apartment unusual is not the low rent. Despite the common perception that all rents in the city are sky high, the officially recognized median rent of all occupied apartments in the five boroughs was only $330 in 1984, the last year the city counted. I ve lived in the Milwaukee since it first opened - I can t remember now when that was - at least 4 years ago, maybe 5? Anyway, I love living there. It s quiet (aside from neighbor noises that any reasonable person would expect from living in an apartment building.) It s charming. Any time any maintenance/fire alarm testing/etc. is taking place, proper notice is always given. My only complaints aren t with the building, the neighbors, or the property managers, so they don t affect my rating at all. I live over the alley, which is filled with rats, dumpsters (and LOUD dumptrucks), crackheads, and a guy across the way who sings really bad karaoke on weekend afternoons. Some people hate it, but I find it charming - at least it s got personality.
