3 Bed 2Bath apartment $1,099 pm

Having bailed out of Westchase Milano is where I ended up with a much bigger apartment which has a 20 foot ceiling height in the lounge area and a loft bedroom/balcony which juts out over it. They have put a huge window above the balcony doors which floods the space with light, the whole places just feels roomy . Have had no problems for the last 8 months and the bonus was it was not far for me to move, only a mile but far better location and just off Westheimer. Lots of places within walking distance, including Matsusaka Fox Hounds and with a 24 hour CVS alongside. Half a mile along Westheimer is the Royal Oaks Golf Club shopping mall of the same name.

Before going here I checked out the crime stats houstontx.gov/police/cs/… from the previous 12 months and they were good so took a two/three bed top floor apartment on a corner which meant I was only sharing walls with one other apartment and I knew that was empty before I moved in so I was happy. The first thing I noticed was how quieter it was and it seems this apartment complex gets most of its business from the Engineers who work at Global Industries. Clean, tidy and very responsive maintenance team. On the site there is a well equipped Gym that never gets crowded. All in all, no problems to date apart from the occasional numbnut who takes the electronic entrance gates off their running track but they are always back in service within 24 hours.

As it is a small apartment complex they only have one pool but it never really gets too crowded. Only once have I ever seen it packed and that was a holiday weekend but most of the crowd had gone by late afternoon. This was the same day I witnessed one of those, Thank You Jesus moments.

It is not unusual for people to take a pack of beers down to the pool and laze about but this day three Hoopleheads with no seeming tolerance for beer were gradually getting louder and louder and their mp3 player and speakers were gradually edging towards MAX volume. I seriously don t mind a few toons but the sh*t these White boys were pumping out was unadulterated crap. They were banging on about this rapper and that crew and it was not pretty but fate took a hand. They had obviously been neglecting to keep their rubbish together and must have been chucking the ring pulls off their beer cans over their shoulders whilst standing poolside. One of them climbed out to get something and as he walked back he stood on a ring pull and his reaction was to kick out the damaged foot. In doing so he caught one of the speakers and launched it into the pool. As luck would have it, the wires connecting all their sound kit pulled the rest of it into the pool as well. Brought a smile to my face.

One useful point to note here is that residents can rent out the model apartment for a maximum of 7 days. It is a fully furnished 2 bed 2 bath apartment on the ground floor next to the putting green and swimming pool and gym. One of the prime locations. So if you have family or friends coming over for a long weekend or short break then you can put them up. It costs $100 dollars per night weekdays and $125 at the weekend and you can book it in advance through the reception. How good is that.

As is my way, I like to share (it s a kind of caring) so here is a piece of info that you may not be aware of.

At the Milano, when someone fills in the application for an apartment there is a section for them to add the name of the person who recommended them. Once the applicant moves in then that person will be sent a cheque for $400. I got my company to move all our Engineers here. I don t need to give you any more clues than that do I? I believe this rules applies at other apartment complexes, the fee may vary, but now you know how the Finders Agencies make their spondulas!
