Atlanta Apartments for Rent on MyNewPlace - Atlanta, GA

You'll find yourself among a very niche population at Morehouse College, a private, male-only, historically-black university in Georgia. It is well-respected academically, being one of two black universities in the nation to produce a Rhodes Scholar. Spike Lee, Samuel L. Jackson and Martin Luther King all went to Morehouse College.

Atlanta, the capital of Georgia and its largest city, is the biggest business hub in the southeastern United States. The area around Morehouse College is primarily considered a business district. Graduates of Morehouse College will find a huge range of employment options, with large companies like Coca-Cola, Delta Airlines, and AT T all calling Atlanta home. Atlanta has the nation's third-largest concentration of Fortune 500 companies, in the 33rd city in the US, size-wise.

Located as it is in the downtown area of Atlanta, the neighborhoods near Morehouse University are very walkable. Drug stores and grocery stores can be found within a short half-mile walk, as can study aids like bars and coffee shops! There are also fitness centers and clothing and music stores to provide welcome distractions within easy reach of Morehouse College.

Atlanta Neighborhoods

Ashview Heights, Harris Chiles and John Hope Homes are the neighborhoods closest to Morehouse, and where you will find the most conveniently located apartments. However, the Downtown area is not necessarily the cheapest to live in. The area is mostly a business district.

Atlanta Apartments

Most of your apartment rental opportunities in Atlanta are located just north of the city, while Morehouse College is south and slightly west. You'll have to cross the city center to get to the cheapest rental options, starting at around $400-$500 per month. However, transport from the main residential and housing areas in to school is relatively frequent and abundant, so cars are more of a luxury than a necessity.

Atlanta Appetizers and Aperitifs

The Downtown district of Atlanta is filled with delicious dining and drinking options, from Southern style favorites to international cuisine of every kind. Carver's Grocery and Quinone's at Bacchanalia serve well-loved Soputhern style food, or you could make your way out to Ecco or Pasta del Puccinella, closer to the center of town, for a break from Buffalo Wings.

Magic City and Elliot Street Pub will no doubt become favorite after-school catch-up venues, although there is a huge range of dance clubs, pubs and karaoke just a bit further away, in Atlanta-center.

Located right smack in the heart of the great southern city of Atlanta, Georgia Tech is an innovative school whose mottos is: "Designing The Future!" Students can specialize in things like Engineering, Advanced Science, and of course, Computing and, thanks to Georgia Tech s satellite campuses, they could conceivably do so all over the world. Students here, nicknamed the Yellow Jackets for school colors of white and gold, are represented at games by Buzz and the Ramblin Wreck; Buzz is, predictably, a large bee, and the Wreck an old Ford sport coupe. Why? You ll have to go to college to find out.

Atlanta, Georgia is a bustling metropolis, but that doesn t mean you can t find something that feels homey. Most apartments for rent are clustered together just north of the main city center, and everything is pretty centralized. Properties range from lavish luxury apartment in big buildings to smaller units in more modest buildings. Start your search for apartments in Atlanta by using our convenient apartment search guide. Only about half of undergrads live on campus, so never fear: your social life will not take a dive if you move off campus, with all the other students you'll find living around town. You can even go online and get a feel for what to day-to-day college life at Georgia Tech is like, by reading our college life blog .

Things to do, things to do! Let's start with getting around: there is the MARTA transit with buses that stop right on campus. There's also something called 'The Stingerette' that shuttles people around; it is privately owned by the college. You should check out the official Atlanta homepage. especially if you've never been to the city before. There, you can learn about all the local attractions that might tempt you to stray from the safety of campus. the Botanical Gardens, The Cyclorama, and the Civil War Museum. Okay, okay, so maybe Civil War history doesn t get your juices going. Atlanta is, of course, also host to an incredible variety of nightlife. Any kind of club you could want to go to can be found somewhere here within the city limits. It's a haven for live music, art events, bumpin bass.

Clark Atlanta University was formed when Clark College and Atlanta University merged in 1988. The university is fairly small and intimate, with around 3,000 students. CAU offers undergraduate, postgraduate, specialist and doctorate degrees within any of four colleges in the liberal arts areas.

A perfect blend of the old and new South marks the capital of Georgia. Atlanta has a population of just over half a million people, and is in the ten most populous cities in the US. It is also known as 'Hotlanta', although temperatures are generally milder than in other areas of the South, and rainfall is generous over summer and winter both.

The city has been known as a manufacturing hub, railroad center and supply depot, as well as being instrumental in protecting and promoting minority rights during the 50s and 60s, earning it the nickname 'The City Too Busy to Hate'.

Clark Atlanta University is right in the center of Atlanta - yet the immediate area is not considered especially walkable. The James P Brawley Drive region is ranked 68 out of 100 for walkability, so if you want to see anything other than the center of town, a car will be necessary.

That said, there are grocery and clothing stores, restaurants, coffee shops, bars and bookshops all within a half a mile of Clark Atlanta University, and often closer.

Washington Park, Ashview Heights, and Harris Chiles are the neighborhoods most likely to hold your new apartment, with a high residential density and good proximity to Clark Atlanta University. Hunter Hills and Mozley Park are also fairly close by.

Mozley Park is said to have good mix of urban and suburban feel, with friendly neighbors and good facilities. Hunter Hills has quiet, residential streets despite its closeness to the CBD, and Washington Park is a little noisier, but has low home prices and gorgeous older homes for rent.

Atlanta has a great selection of apartments for under $500 per month - studio apartments are virtually non-existent even in the lowest price category, and the housing is of a generally high standard.

Atlanta is a big city with big choice is what to do after school. The Fox Theater is where you'll find plenty of big name acts, and many happily spent hours, while The Northside Tavern and Shakespeare Tavern also offer tunes or performing arts along with their drinks.

American cuisine is most popular in Atlanta, with Bacchanalia, Elliot Street Deli and Carver's Grocery some of the most loved eateries in the city.

Conveniently located in the heart of downtown Atlanta, Georgia State University has a state-of-the-art campus and excels in a variety of fields of study. It's got a beautiful (and gigantic) modern-style sports arena, and an equally impressive library. GSU is a vital contributing member of the cultural community in this bustling Southern metropolis; the popular performance and arts center The Rialto is an integral part of the school. In addition to all these amenities, GSU is dedicated to providing its students with real life experience they can use to establish professional, not to mention international, careers. They are also big on sports! The Panthers colors are blue and white, and Pounce the Blue Panther is their adorable, excuse me, fierce team mascot.

If you are a current or prospective student at Georgia State University and are looking for an apartment, get started with our apartment search guide. Available properties in Atlanta range from luxurious loft spaces in tall condominium buildings to quaint units in more modest complexes. Many are centrally located downtown, which is a plus. Only 13% of undergrads at Georgia State University live on campus, so it would seem that the cosmopolitan flavor of Atlanta is a crucial part of the school experience. But before you dive into it all, get a feel for what everyday college life by checking out or helpful college life blog .

By the time you roll into town, with all this preparation, your schoolmates will think you're a local! (Which is not to rule out the possibility that you actually are a local.) The easiest way to get around is probably MARTA, which includes Atlanta's train system. There is also the Panther Express that drives around campus. And a great website to know when it comes to hitting the town/painting it red/steppin' out/nightlife is Metromix. There you will find local celebrity news along with the concert and event listings and locations of all the cool clubs, restaurants, and venues. Anything you could want, you will find in Atlanta.

Emory University is located in northeast Atlanta. It has 12,000 students with more than 40% of them living in off campus housing. Even though the area around the campus is very walkable, if you choose housing any distance away, you will want to have a car. Living off campus will give you more of a chance to feel part of Atlanta, which is such a great city.

Emory is the best of both worlds. It's in a more suburban neighborhood with small shops and restaurants yet malls and places like Five Points and Buckhead are close enough to be convenient too. Once in your Emory University apartment, you'll start working out which neighborhoods are your favorites.

Near campus, a favorite eatery is Doc Chey's, which is a great Chinese chain place. It's in the Village where you'll find a few other good places too. Atlanta is competitive with New York for restaurants, so a short car trip will get you into many fantastic places and not all are expensive either. In Buckhead alone, there are ten famous places.

At night, its all about Midtown or Buckhead. Both have large concentrations of bar and clubs. It's more relaxed in Buckhead, while if you go to Midtown, it's about dressing the part and paying cover charges. Near campus, there's always Maggie's Bar which is crowded with students every night.

Emory is a special place so read more about it at www.emory and be up to date.
