Riverside Apartments - Apartments - Alexandria, VA - Yelp

OK I m updating this. I m getting REAL damn tired of spending a large portion of my income a month on an apartment that either takes FOREVER for the water to get hot, or doesn t get hot at all. It s gotten especially heinous the last few months. I regularly need to stand like a goof for TEN MINUTES waiting for my shower water to get warm. All the while, I m basically letting money run down the drain. Tonight (3/24/15) I wanted to do the dishes and the water would just NOT get hot. Not even luke-warm. Ice cold. I can t do the dishes with ice cold water.

This has been an on-going problem for at least THREE YEARS. If my hot water isn t busted they re shutting it off so they can work on the boiler they replaced only two years ago.

I ve lived in tower three since October 2012.

Meh.

That s really all I can say. It s not the Taj… I ve lived in tower three since October 2012.

Meh.

That s really all I can say. It s not the Taj Mahal nor was I expecting it to be. My cabinetry is old and dated, but all my appliances were brand new on move-in. Thankfully I have (fake) wood floors rather than an apartment full of nasty carpeting.

I live on the side of the building facing DC and the view is actually quite nice. Not a lot of people can say they get a balcony with a view of the Washington Monument for the price I m paying. On the flip-side I also have an up-close and personal view of the beltway as well, but I grew up beside the PA Turnpike so it s just white noise for me.

The AC works in the summer, the heaters work in the winter, though they ARE quite LOUD making me turn my TV and music up louder than I would like, especially at night.

Over-all it s been OK. Nothing stellar, but whatevs.

My major complaints are:

1: The hot water. I know building three has struggled since before I moved in with boiler issues. They shut the water off FAR too often for my taste. However, the hot water was more reliable before they fixed these issues than it has since. I have to let my water run five to ten minutes before it gets hot when I want to take a shower. Imagine how much water that is wasting. Before the issues were fixed the hot water was almost always instant for me.

2: Neighbors noise. I have complained many, many times about my neighbor s excessive music/sound volumes. I m not going to go pound on their door and confront them because who knows what could happen these days, so when I call multiple times in a week to complain, I expect something to be done. Nope. Womp. Womp. Womp. Womp. Things vibrate off my shelves. I really think blasting the surround sound at midnight on a Sunday night/Monday morning is something that should be frowned upon when people sleep on the other side of the wall.

3: Dog pee in the elevators. I m a pet lover. I don t have one, now, but I ve owned dogs my entire life, so I m not one of those poo-poo, get off my lawn types who complain about them. Still, over the last couple months I have waited far too long for an elevator (only two out of the three are working) only for the doors to open and there being a sea of whiz on the floor. I m not talking about some little rat chihuahua peeing. Honest to God, it s like a St. Bernard went to town in there. This is more on disgusting tenants more than management, but it s something that should be enforced more.

So there you go. I ve re-upped my lease once, because A: I ve heard about the horror-stories of moving out and how they gouge you on every scratch and B: I simply didn t feel like looking for anything better and C: I don t want to go through moving AGAIN. So I stayed out of apathy and laziness more than any kind of ooo this place is great! sentiment.

That said, it s an OK. Place. I can t complain. That much. Read more
