#Apartment Manager Salary (United States) Take the PayScale surveyJob Description for Apartment ManagerApartment managers are responsible for keeping their apartment complex or complexes running efficiently. Duties may vary somewhat depending on the size of the apartment complex, but, in general, apartment managers are required to oversee both day-to-day and longer-term duties. One of the biggest tasks or challenges for apartment managers is tenant relations. Keeping apartments occupied is a primary duty for apartment managers, so they spend substantial time dealing with tenants and showing units to potential renters. Depending on apartment turnover, a manager may spend a significant amount of time outside of the office hosting showings. In larger complexes where apartment managers supervise workers, they also create worker schedules and maintain an organized record system for repairs, work-orders, and complaints. Generally, apartment managers are required to have at least an associate's degree in business management or a similar field. Many employers require additional education specific to the job, such as accounting and sales courses. Apartment management is generally not an entry-level job, and most companies look for a background in management; most employers prefer to hire those with previous apartment management experience of at least two years.
