DALLAS. Dec. 17, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- As long time Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) supporters, the Dallas injury lawyers of Eberstein Witherite were recently invited to meet with President Barack Obama at a reception in Dallas, TX. The DSCC event was held on November 6th, 2013 at the home of Lisa and Peter Krauss. During the event, attorney Amy Witherite was able to speak with President Obama regarding the need for more judicial appointments to the federal bench.

List of federal judges appointed by Barack Obama

"As of November 7, 2013. the total number of Obama Article III judgeship nominees to be confirmed by the United States Senate is 211, including two Justices to the Supreme Court of the United States. 39 judges to the United States Courts of Appeals, 168 judges to the United States district courts, and two judges to the United States Court of International Trade. The number of nominations currently awaiting Senate action is 53. Following the timely discussion with President Obama, the Senate addressed the issue of judicial appointments on November 21st, 2013. This resulted in the elimination the 60 senator filibuster rule.

U.S. Senate goes 'nuclear,' changes filibuster rules

"Fifty-two Senate Democrats and independents voted to weaken the power of the filibuster. The change reduces the threshold from 60 votes to 51 votes for Senate approval of executive and judicial nominees against unanimous GOP opposition. Three Democrats Sens. Mark Pryor of Arkansas. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Carl Levin of Michigan opposed the change.

The rule change does not apply to Supreme Court nominees, who are still subject to a 60-vote filibuster threshold, or to legislation."
