#Union Wharf - 18 Photos - Apartments - Canton - Baltimore, MD - Reviews

Recommended Reviews

I recently moved into one of the apartments in Union Wharf. And so far, my experience here has been very pleasant. The complex is beautiful, airy and very clean. The management used both an industrial and a modern style to furnish the interior, and the style definitely works giving the whole place a very elegant feel.

So, I think my feelings can be summed up thusly: They sell these apartments on upscale, sophisticated luxury . In reality, UW is probably perfect for moneyed people in their early 20s, but as older professionals who are out of the partying phase in our lives, it simply wasn t for us. We had a 6-month lease here when they first opened.

The Nice:

The gym includes top-of-the-line treadmills, and there are tons of different floor plans to choose from. Security deals with reported after-hours noise issues promptly. Blake, the property manager, responds to issues quickly as well. Obviously, the location is fantastic. It s walking distance to everything in Fells Point, Inner Harbor and Canton. The pool is really nice.

The Naughty:

Our walls were very thin. We could always hear music and partying from one neighbor and cabinets slamming from the guest suite on the other side. Almost every weekend, the pool was inhabited by a bunch of screaming people carrying red solo cups. If you are on the 5th floor overlooking the pool, as we were, the noise carries up very easily, especially if someone is renting out the club room for a party at night.

There is a mandatory $25 valet trash charge tacked onto rent. There is a mandatory billing fee (around $5), account set-up fee (around $5) and payment processing fee (around $5) from their rent/water billing service, Ocius.  Any questions about the billing was met with We don t control the billing, we can t do anything about it , instead of a helpful, or at least customer-friendly or customer-oriented answer.  (The issue wasn t the amount, but rather that there s no transparency about the extra fees tacked onto already high rent.)

We had a lot of issues when we first moved in that we assumed were due to the fact that the complex had just opened. Closet organizers coming out of the wall, construction workers entering constantly, fire alarms going off without any warning, etc. We finally got fed up when one of the weekend security guards entered and searched our apartment without permission or notice. To be fair, management dealt with this when we reported it. We also had an incident where the front office opened a package meant for us. Bonnie, the main concierge (who is probably the best part of UW - she s awesome and at times was the only saving grace) was very apologetic and took care of the issue, but the person who actually opened the package never even apologized.

All in all, would we choose this complex again? Probably not. With a luxury apartment, I expect that my inconveniences would be at a minimum, and this wasn t the case. I hope that as they move on from their grand opening, their issues and overall customer experience improve.
