Hillcrest has remained true to its history as one of San Diego's best real estate values for professionals and working-class residents alike. Little Italy has always been a neat ethnic enclave within downtown, but only in the past year or so has it become a bonafide "cool" neighborhood, thanks to the addition of new condo high rises. A stable ethnic business and residential community, since the 1920?s; Little Italy today represents Downtown San Diego’s oldest continuous neighborhood business district. Little Italy is one of the more active downtown neighborhoods and has fantastic festivals and events including its very own Farmers Market; the Mercato. The neighborhood has low crime rates when compared with other neighborhoods in Downtown San Diego and is maintained by the Little Italy Neighborhood Association.

Kensington, founded in 1910, is an upscale enclave on the Mission Valley. This picturesque neighborhood is considered a peaceful pocket amidst the business of the city. Kensington is mostly residential and has a small but effective business district. Kensington is known for its unique Spanish style houses and pristinely manicured lawns. Kensington is a great compact walking neighborhood with great eateries, cafes, and coffee shops to take advantage of. The Ken Club is the hottest nightlife spot in the neighborhood and is a great place for drinks after a long day at work.

Mission Hills can be found just north of downtown, west of Hillcrest and overlooking Mission Valley. Mission Hill's is one of San Diego's oldest and most desirable neighborhoods. The housing scene in Mission Hills is quite diverse; from sprawling mansions with manicured lawns to quaint craftsman style bungalows. Mission Hills has its own business district that is within walking distance of most of the neighboring streets. From your banking needs to finding a great place to eat, Mission Hill has it all covered. And if for any reason you can't find what your looking for within Mission Hills, Hillcrest is nearby.

University. named both for the neighborhood and locally infamous University Avenue provides a residential mix of craftsman style bungalows cottages, condos, and a great apartment community. Centered around Park Boulevard, University offers a wide variety of eateries, bakeries, speciality shops, thrift stores, and coffeehouses. Trolley Barn Park is a popular destination for singles and families, with its free concerts on Friday evenings during the summer months. University is a diverse community and LGBT friendly. There is great nightlife within its borders in places like Bourbor Bar and the Lei Lounge. Diversionary Theatre provides an opportunity for aspiring actors and actresses to cut their chops in live theatre performances.

North Park is one of San Diego's largest and most sprawling neighborhoods. With canyon views over looking Mission Valley, North Park is a picturesque community, with densely populated apartment communities and single family homes. An eclectic array of restaurants, as well as independent coffee shops, can be found along the main arteries of 30th Street and University Avenue. The area is also dotted with bars and night clubs that cater to a wide diversity of patrons. The San Diego Music Foundation's North Park Music Thing is hosted in the fall on El Cajon Boulevard, which helps add to North Park's reputation as a great community for the arts. In December, as a tradition, North Park holds its annual holiday parade. Formerly known as the North Park Toyland Parade, it is now called the North Park Lions Club Holiday Parade. North Park has great pedestrian activity, and easy access to public transportation.
